Installation of steel reinforcements for a massive bar at a new Triangle Square restaurant will force a lane closure on Newport Boulevard today and Friday. A southbound lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days as crews lift and assemble girders that weigh more than a ton each. Planners said they don’t expect any major inconveniences to motorists or customers during the construction.

“There shouldn’t be any problems,” said Steve Reynolds, Yard House co-owner. The restaurant owners contend that the Yard House, scheduled to open in October, has more beers on tap than any other restaurant anywhere. “There is no other way we can possibly do this. We are getting the best out of the crane while it’s there.” Drivers are advised to use other routes to get onto the Costa Mesa Freeway during lunch hour since the lane closure could add to the logjam of cars north of 19th Street.
