* Members of the 1999 Laguna Beach National Poetry Slam Team--Mindy Nettifee, Buzzy Ennis, Paul Suntup and Lizzie Wann--will perform their poetry at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gypsy Den Cafe and Reading Room at the Lab, 2930 Bristol St., Costa Mesa. Coach and alternate John Gardiner also will perform. The team--winners of the Laguna Beach Poetry Slam Finals in June--will represent Orange County at the National Poetry Slam Finals in Chicago in August.

* Storyteller Elizabeth Gibson, author of “Unusual Aesop’s Fables,” will perform at 1 p.m. Saturday at Borders Books and Music, 429 S. Associated Road, Brea. Gibson, part of the California Arts Council’s Rural & Inner City Presenting Program, has been telling stories professionally for nearly a decade.

* Barbara DeMarco Barrett will interview poet Gerald Stern at 6 p.m. today on KUCI (88.9 FM) in Irvine.

* Marla Miller will sign “All American Girls: The U.S.A. National Women’s Soccer Team” at 7 p.m. Friday at Barnes & Noble in Metro Point, 901 South Coast Drive, Costa Mesa.

* Beverly Bush will discuss and sign “Wings of a Dove” and “Evidence of Things Unseen” at 7 p.m. Friday at Barnes & Noble at the Market Place, 13712 Jamboree Road, Irvine.

* Chef Roy Yamaguchi, founder of Roy’s Pacific Rim Cuisine and author of “Roy’s Feasts From Hawaii” cookbook, will sign from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at a grand-opening reception of his Fashion Island restaurant, Roy’s of Newport Beach, 453 Newport Center Drive. A $30 admission fee includes a copy of the book and appetizers.

* Rep. Christopher Cox (R--Newport Beach), chairman of the House Select Committee on National Security and Military Concerns with the People’s Republic of China, will speak at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace, 18001 Yorba Linda Blvd., Yorba Linda. Cox’s lecture ($6) will be followed by a signing of “The Cox Report.” Information: (714) 993-5075.

* Stephen Paul Edwards will sign “Heaven Can’t Wait” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Barnes & Noble in Metro Point.
