Notes

Woodbridge, which won back-to-back Division I titles in 1996 and ‘97, has an outside chance at another title with the addition of senior David Lingman, who sat out last year to work on his game with private Coach Mark Kaplan. “We’re better than I thought,” said Lingman, who has committed to Harvard. “I think we can win [Southern Section], but we need our doubles players to be tough in the big matches.”. . . . Esperanza will be without senior Tom Lloyd, who has decided against playing high school tennis to concentrate on junior and satellite tournaments. “We’ll miss him big time,” Esperanza Coach Jean Agee said. “His three points are going to be the difference in a lot of matches.”. . . . Los Alamitos’ already powerful team will be strengthened by the addition of freshmen Jon Mano and Jason Wood, both top-60 players in the boys’ 14 division in Southern California, and sophomore doubles specialist Wagner Wong.
