Concordia Ousts Lindsey Wilson

Concordia upset No. 3-seeded Lindsey Wilson of Kentucky, 90-77, as the Golden State Athletic Conference went 3-0 Wednesday in the first round of the NAIA Division I men’s basketball tournament at Tulsa, Okla. Josh Giles had 25 points for the Eagles (21-15), in their first appearance in the tournament.

Westmont 76, St. Xavier (Ill.) 61--The No. 13-seeded Warriors had runs of 8-0, 10-0 and 11-0 in building a 46-23 halftime lead over the Cougars (26-10). Westmont (27-5) had four players score in double figures, led by Ken Knabke’s 12, and made seven of 12 three-point shots.

Azusa Pacific 75, Edward Waters (Fla.) 67--The Cougar defense held the Tigers to 40% shooting and forced 22 turnovers to complete the GSAC first-round sweep. Edward Waters (24-9), trailing, 31-27, at halftime, pulled to within one with 5:34 to play before a 9-1 run by No. 7-seeded Azusa (27-5).

The Master’s College 84, Georgia Southwestern 75--The Mustangs (22-12) used a 26-10 run to take a 30-14 lead in the first half, and The Master’s shot 62.3% from the field compared with 41.4% by the No. 5-seeded Hurricanes (30-4).

Southern California College 71, Lipscomb (Tenn.) 66--In the first round of the women’s tournament at Jackson, Tenn., the Vanguards (26-8) made 12 three-point baskets to upset the No. 5-seeded Bisons (27-7).

DIVISION II

Cal State San Bernardino held Florida Southern to only 32.8% shooting, but surrendered 23 offensive rebounds and lost, 64-69, in the men’s Division II quarterfinals at Louisville, Ky. The Coyotes (23-8) were outrebounded, 53-32, committed 12 turnovers and the Moccasins (28-7) went to the free-throw line 46 times, compared with 23 times for San Bernardino.
