Cal State Fullerton Rallies, Beats Ohio State
Kati Franck struck out six in a five-hitter and Stephenie Little hit her ninth home run to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 4-2 softball victory over Ohio State Tuesday at Fullerton.
Ohio State (7-10) scored two runs in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead, but the Titans rallied with runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. Wendi Griffin, Nikki Hart and Chrissy Hartman had RBIs for the Titans (16-12).
In nonconference baseball:
North Central (Ill.) 10, Chapman 8--North Central’s Dan Grimm hit a solo home run in the ninth inning, starting a four-run rally to defeat host Chapman (17-2).
In Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:
Southern California College 9, Westmont 4--Donovan McReynolds pitched seven innings, giving up six hits and three runs, to earn the victory for SCC (13-14, 7-10). Third baseman Jason Murietta went three for five with two RBIs to lead the offense. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Vanguards.
In nonconference men’s tennis:
Southern California College 5, Westmont 2--Nan Ma, Peter Skrzeczynski and Erik Dahlin won in straight sets to lead SCC (11-5).
In the UC Irvine women’s tennis Invitational:
UC Irvine 8, Cornell 1--Darian Chappell won, 6-3, 6-1, then teamed up with Jonni Seymour for an 8-2 victory in doubles for UCI, which took third place. Colorado defeated Oregon, 6-3, to win the championship.
