Hudson Might Be Starting

The Clippers might not decide until game time whether point guard Darrick Martin will be able to play tonight at Seattle. Martin hyperextended his left knee in Wednesday’s loss to Golden State.

Martin, who has started eight of the last nine games, had an MRI exam Thursday that did not reveal any structural damage. He did not practice.

“It’s sore . . . but I feel better knowing that nothing major is wrong with it,” Martin said.

If Martin is unable to go, the Clippers will be left with Troy Hudson, who was playing in the Continental Basketball Assn. before signing a 10-day contract on Tuesday. Hudson played five minutes for the Clippers on Wednesday and had three rebounds and an assist.

“We’d have to go with Troy because we don’t have enough time to bring in another body,” Coach Chris Ford said.

Pooh Richardson and Sherman Douglas worked out Thursday but are unable to be activated from the injured list. Richardson, on the list because of an ankle sprain, has two games remaining before he’s eligible to be activated. Douglas, who has a groin/quadriceps strain, cannot be activated for four more games.

Rookie center Michael Olowokandi has struggled some this season but has stayed out of foul trouble and played well over the last week. He has averaged 12 points and nine rebounds in five of his last six games. . . . Shooting guard Eric Piatkowski did not practice because of a strained right knee but is probable for tonight’s game.
