Hart Breaks Valencia’s Streak

Mike Ho surrendered only two games in winning three sets at No. 3 singles and Hart High defeated Valencia, 13-5, in a Foothill League match between undefeated teams Friday at Valencia.

No. 1 player Jesse Ferlianto also swept and the Indians (8-0, 1-0) won six of nine doubles sets.

Corey Moore and Brandon Neal earned a sweep at No. 3 doubles for Valencia (6-1, 0-1).

Crespi 14, Notre Dame 4--Stephen Amritraj (25-2) swept three sets and the Celts (5-5, 3-2) won a Mission League match at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park.

Notre Dame (4-5, 2-4) got victories from Ted Hall at No. 1 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Cyrus Semnani and Marvin Magcamit.

Harvard-Westlake 11, St. Francis 7--Steven Gersh, Greg Sher and Chris Hom swept in singles and the Wolverines (9-0, 5-0) won a Mission League match at Fremont Park in Glendale.

St. Bonaventure 15, Carpinteria 3--Vik Tiku (12-0) and the doubles team of Sean Callahan and Todd Kinsling (15-0) swept and the host Seraphs (4-2, 1-0) won a Tri-Valley League match.

GOLF

Westlake 373, Nordhoff 374--The Rangers held a two-stroke lead before Doug Miller and Chad Wensel came in with the last group and helped the Warriors win a nonleague match between two of the top golf teams in Ventura County at Soule Park in Ojai.

Wensel had two birdies and shot a one-over-par 37 on the front nine and finished with a three-over-par 75.

Miller shot 38-37--75 with seven pars on the front side and a birdie on the back.

Lee Krieger shot 72 for Westlake (9-3).

Shawn Andrews and Tommy Hajduk of Nordhoff each each shot 36-36--72.

Cleveland 222, Monroe 224--John Darnell birdied two of the last four holes and Jung Lee made par on the last three holes to help the Cavaliers win a City 3-A match at Woodley Lakes Golf Course in Van Nuys.

Darnell finished at four-over-par 40 and Lee shot a 44 for Cleveland (4-3, 3-3).

Glenn Wright shot 36 for Monroe (4-2, 4-2).

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Royal def. Newbury Park, 15-0, 15-6, 16-14--Brad Reistein had eight kills and Cam Dickson and Ryan Moberly each had seven for the Highlanders (6-0, 4-0) in a Marmonte League victory at Royal.
