Alemany Rallies in Seventh, Upsets Harvard-Westlake, 3-2

Alemany High rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to upset Harvard-Westlake, 3-2, in a Mission League softball game Friday at Alemany.

Annette Ramirez tripled in the first Indian run and stole home to tie the score, 2-2. Debbie Borra’s two-out single scored Courtney Carr with the winning run for Alemany (9-12, 3-5 in league play).

Elena Ferrero (9-5) struck out six and had two hits and a run batted in for Harvard-Westlake (11-12, 5-3).

Chaminade 7, Louisville 0--Maureen LeCocq (14-2-1) allowed two hits in six innings with eight strikeouts and no walks for host Chaminade (15-6-1, 7-0), which clinched at least a share of its second consecutive Mission League title.

Notre Dame 11, Flintridge Sacred Heart 0--Karen Tobin had two hits, including a two-run home run in a four-run fourth inning, for the Knights (17-7, 5-3) in a Mission League game at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park that was called in the fifth inning because of a 10-run rule.

Camarillo 4, Oxnard 1--The Scorpions (18-5, 11-0), ranked second in the region by The Times, escaped an upset with defense, as the Yellowjackets (4-12, 4-6) left the bases loaded in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings in a Pacific View League game at Oxnard.

Oxnard had nine hits off Camarillo left-hander Meredith Nevard (6-0).

Rio Mesa 6, Channel Islands 1--Monique Barretto (3-4), a junior right-hander, pitched a two-hitter and struck out eight in a Pacific View League game at Channel Islands.

Chrissy Hildebrant was three for three with three RBIs and Lisa De La Torre had two hits for Rio Mesa (11-13, 7-4).

Valencia 4, Burroughs 1--Carrie Mitchell had four hits for Valencia (11-11, 4-4) in a Foothill League game at Burroughs.

Providence 13, Windward 0--Jessica Franco (1-0) pitched a no-hitter with nine strikeouts in her first start this season, and Crissy Koeth had two home runs, two doubles, a single and five RBIs for the Pioneers (16-2, 7-0) in a Liberty League game at Windward.
