Abreu Has Muscle Strain
Philadelphia Phillie outfielder Bobby Abreu received encouraging news Saturday when doctors diagnosed him with a strained muscle in his right forearm. The injury is expected to keep Abreu out of the lineup for about a week, but it could have been worse. The Phillies initially thought he might have an elbow injury that could have meant a trip to the disabled list.
The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned left-hander Brian Anderson to triple-A Tucson to make room for right-handed reliever Amaury Telemaco, who started the season on the disabled list because of tendinitis in his right shoulder. . .The New York Mets recalled left-handed pitcher Rigo Beltran from triple-A Norfolk to fill Rickey Henderson’s roster spot. Henderson, bothered by a sprained right knee, went on the disabled list Friday.
