Victory Puts Matadors Within Reach of .500
Jason Gorman’s sacrifice fly in the 12th inning drove home Mike Bumstead to lift Cal State Northridge past UC Santa Barbara, 6-5, on Tuesday at Cal State Northridge.
The Matadors (27-28) host Loyola Marymount today in season finale with a chance to reach .500.
Darryl Grant (1-3) pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to earn the victory and also had a three-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Matadors a 5-4 lead. Santa Barbara (25-25) tied the score in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by former Camarillo High star Jeff Bannon, who also had two doubles.
Gorman had three hits and drove in two runs. His double in the first inning drove home J.T. Stotts with the first run.
