Jockey Chris McCarron, who suffered a hairline fracture near the heel of his left foot in a training accident on Monday, probably will be sidelined for two weeks.

The injury happened when the Hall of Fame rider was thrown from a horse he was taking to the track for a workout and he landed heavily on his left foot.

With McCarron sidelined, Emile Ramsammy has picked up the mount this afternoon on Apremont, the extremely quick 3-year-old who will be making his first start since he was a distant second in the Gotham Stakes on March 21 at Aqueduct.

Trained by Ron McAnally, Apremont won his first two starts by a combined 11 1/2 lengths, then was beaten by Badge in the Gotham after leading through 21 1/5 and 43 4/5 fractions.

Seven others were entered against Apremont, who is the 4-5 favorite in the seven-furlong race.

The Hollywood Park board of stewards ordered the purse from the third race at Del Mar last Sept. 2 be redistributed because the winner tested positive for clenbuterol.

Pettroff, who was then a 2-year-old maiden trained by David La Croix for a partnership that included Meadowbrook Farms, was disqualified from all purse money after a positive test for the bronchial dilator. The revised order of finish: Isaypete, Northern Avenue, Pick Up Stixs, Snowdoubtaboutit and Affair To Be.
