Cerritos Takes Out Hart in Quarterfinals, 5-2
Jessica VanderLinden of Cerritos High hit a tie-breaking two-run double with two out in the sixth inning and the Dons defeated Hart, 5-2, in a Southern Section Division II quarterfinal at Cerritos.
Cerritos (24-7) will pay Corona in a semifinal on Tuesday.
VanderLinden pitched a three-hitter and struck out six.
Hart (23-6-1) tied the score, 2-2, in the sixth on a double by Kortney Downen and singles by Kristin Lueke and Carly Caldaronello.
Lindsey Kontra and Amanda Fortune combined on a five-hitter for the Indians but errors led to three unearned runs for the Dons.
