Park Wins League Title by 10 Shots

Priscilla Park of Villa Park shot 157 (78-79) at Temecula Creek Oaks and Stonehouse courses and won the Century League girls’ golf title by 10 shots over teammate Shelly Raworth, the defending champion.

Park, named league MVP, had 10 pars and two birdies in each of her rounds. Raworth finished with 167 (84-83).

Park and Raworth advanced to the Southern Section finals Nov. 16 at Mission Lakes Country Club in Desert Hot Springs.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Won wins second title--Angela Won of University shot one-over 72 in the second round and finished at three-over 145 for a 24-stroke victory over teammate Sunny Lee, winning her second consecutive league title.

Won and Lee were the only players to break 80 in the tournament and advance to the Southern Section finals.

In the Serra League:

Mulhaupt takes second--Kim Manalanson of Torrance Bishop Montgomery shot 167 (81-86) over two days at Meadowlark to edge Meghan Mulhaupt of Santa Margarita by a stroke. Both advanced to the Southern Section finals.

In the South Coast League:

Cho defends title--Carling Cho of Dana Hills shot 164 (85-79) at Temeku Hills in Temecula and defended her league title with an eight-stroke victory over teammate Brittany Tall. Cho and Tall both advanced to the Southern Section finals.

In the field hockey Tournament of Champions:

Edison 3, Santa Ana 0--Cathryn Perkins scored two goals and Nicole Harrison added one in the final 10 seconds to lead top-seeded Edison (15-0) to the first-round victory. The Chargers will play at Huntington Beach in the semifinals on Thursday. Santa Ana finished 3-8-4.

Huntington Beach 2, Fountain Valley 2 (Huntington Beach wins in shootout, 3-1)--Goalkeeper Rona Smith made two saves in the shootout, to lead Huntington Beach (9-3-3) to a first-round victory. Alicia Santiago and Jessica Conder rallied the Oilers from a 1-0 deficit, with two second-half goals.

Marina 3, La Verne Bonita 0--Melissa Shuck, Jen Kindschi and Heather Kindschi each scored to lead second-seeded Marina (11-4) in the first-round game. The Vikings will host third-seeded Newport Harbor in the semifinals.

In Century League girls’ tennis:

Villa Park 10, Canyon 8--Villa Park’s Leah Becker defeated Canyon’s No. 1 Heather Hohenstein, 7-5, to lead the Spartans. It was Hohenstein’s first loss in league this season. The victory gave Villa Park (12-4, 10-0) its sixth consecutive league title. Canyon finished 6-4 in league.

In the Garden Grove League:

Garden Grove 15, Bolsa Grande 3--Garden Grove (18-2, 12-0) finished undefeated in league for the third consecutive season. Bolsa Grande finished 10-7, 5-7.

In Serra League tennis:

No. 3 Mater Dei 18, Lakewood St. Joseph’s 0--Jodie Nygaard didn’t lose a game in singles for the Monarchs (14-4, 8-0), who won the league title.

In Golden West League water polo:

Santa Ana 13, Westminster 3--Luis Lugunas had four goals, four assists and three steals to lead Santa Ana (8-12, 2-2), which clinched third place in league and will go to the Southern Section playoffs for the first time in 25 years.
