Jermaine Marshall’s eye-popping rushing statistics for Division XII Kilpatrick are beginning to catch the attention of Division I college recruiters.
Coach Sid Ware of Kilpatrick received calls this week from UCLA and Nebraska and was told to expect scouts at the Mustangs’ Alpha League championship game against Paraclete on Friday night.
“It’s amazing the attention he’s getting,” Ware said of Marshall, who entered with a region regular-season record 2,386 yards and was tied for the region regular-season mark with 41 touchdowns. “It’s pretty exciting.”
Kilpatrick will close the regular season next week with a game at Palisades, which features David Coral, the state’s passing leader with 2,839 yards through eight games.
The Mustangs were scheduled to travel to Lone Pine to close the regular season.
The game at Palisades is scheduled for 3 p.m.
