Regular-Season Finales to Decide League Titles

Several league football titles will be decided tonight and Friday in the final games of the regular season.

The Southern Section playoff seeding meeting is Sunday.

Santa Fe Springs St. Paul (8-1, 2-0) plays host to Loyola (6-3, 2-0) Friday in a game that will determine the champion of the Division I Del Rey League.

Other noteworthy games are:

San Luis Obispo (8-1, 3-0) at Arroyo Grande (8-0, 3-0) in the Division III Northern League on Friday; Norco (8-1, 4-0) at Corona (8-1, 4-0) in the Division V Mountain View League on Friday and Lakewood Mayfair (9-0, 6-0) vs. La Mirada (8-1, 6-0) in the Division VI Suburban League tonight at Bellflower.

Defending champion Irvine University leads a field of 15 teams that will compete for the Southern Section girls’ golf championship Monday at Temeku Hills in Temecula.

University won the South Regional at Los Serranos Tuesday. Villa Park, Corona del Mar, Santa Margarita and Torrance Bishop Montgomery also qualified out of that regional.

Qualifiers from the North Regional on Monday at Santa Barbara Country Club were North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, Newhall Hart, Thousand Oaks La Reina, West Hills Chaminade and Santa Barbara San Marcos.

The Central Regional on Monday at Soboba Spring Royal Vista in San Jacinto was cut to 13 holes because of darkness. The top five teams were South Torrance, Lakewood, Redondo Union, Palos Verdes Peninsula and Murrieta Valley.

The girls’ individual finals are Tuesday at Mission Lakes Country Club in Palm Springs.

First-round matches in the girls’ tennis playoffs are today.

Defending champion Palos Verdes Peninsula is the top-seeded team in Division I.

Other top-seeded teams are: Irvine Woodbridge in Division II, Palm Desert (III), Calabasas (IV) and Laguna Beach (V).
