Police ID Victim in Fatal Shooting

Police on Friday identified the victim of a fatal shooting as Joel Enciso, 24, of Van Nuys.

Enciso was visiting a friend about 9 p.m. Thursday at a house in the 15000 block of Friar Street when he was shot in the upper torso, possibly with a shotgun, Los Angeles Police Department detectives said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although five people were in the house at the time of the shooting, police said they have not provided a complete picture of events surrounding the incident, which is still under investigation.

“There’s nothing to indicate there was an argument or a struggle in the house,” Det. I. Al Aldaz said. “We don’t know if the shooter was invited or uninvited.”
