DIVISION IV FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Buena Turns Back Moorpark With Late Touchdown, 17-10

D.J. Blackledge’s 12-yard touchdown run with 1:35 to play lifted No. 4-seeded Buena High to a 17-10 victory over Moorpark in a Southern Section Division IV playoff opener Friday night at Ventura High.

Buena (10-1), which extended its winning streak to 10 games, drove 82 yards in 13 plays on the winning drive, consuming 7:16. The key play was a 10-yard completion from Kyle Loughman to Cody Murphy on fourth and six to the Moorpark 30-yard line.

Blackledge rushed for 131 yards in 22 carries.

Moorpark (3-8) tied the score, 10-10, on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Dylan McLaughlin to Chris Vizzi with 35 seconds left in the third quarter. McLaughlin completed 16 of 31 passes for 127 yards.

Vizzi, the region’s leading Southern Section receiver, had six catches for 65 yards, finishing the season with 74 receptions.

Freddie Keiaho scored on a one-yard run to give Buena a 7-0 lead on its opening possession. The score was set up by a 39-yard interception return by linebacker Stuart Smith.
