Thanks for Remembering Those Wearing the Stripes
It’s been a long time since I started my first track meet (U.S. Army, Korea, 1954), so it was with great satisfaction that I finally saw an article (Prep Extra, Sept. 28) that concerned itself with the thousands of men and women who officiate our many athletic contests in the Southern California area.
All too often we tend to trivialize or minimize or downright hate the men and women in the striped shirts. On behalf of the some 175 members of the California Track Starters Assn., thank you.
