SPORT: Football

SEASON AT A GLANCE: Scott, a running back, is averaging nearly 10 yards per carry for the Indians (4-0). He has rushed for 679 yards and eight touchdowns, and has two touchdowns receiving and another on a kickoff return. “He’s lived up above and beyond any expectation I’ve had,” Coach Jim Bonds said.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Facing Notre Dame’s smothering defense, Scott rushed for 249 yards, including touchdown runs of 80 and 31 yards, in 24 carries in a 24-21 victory. “I think you can mention him in the same breath as Justin Fargas,” Bonds said. “He can run over people and by them.”

GIRLS

Michaela Skelly

SCHOOL: Royal

YEAR: Senior

SPORT: Volleyball

SEASON AT A GLANCE: Skelly has helped ease the loss of key starters from last year’s Southern Section Division I-A championship team. Skelly, who has committed to Syracuse, has capably directed the Royal offense and has the Highlanders pointed toward a second consecutive Marmonte League title.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Skelly was selected most valuable player of the 20-team Royal tournament after leading the Highlanders to the title. She had 152 assists, 33 digs, 10 blocks and six aces in tournament play. “She was outstanding all day,” Coach Bob Ferguson said. “She was scary. She made some sets with athletic moves where you just go, ‘Wow.’ ”
