Quarterbacks John Gonzalez and Mike Jasper of Camarillo (0-3-1) are expected to platoon for the fourth week in a row Friday night against Saugus, but Coach Carl Thompson will name a starter for the Pacific View League opener at Hueneme on Oct. 15.

“We’re waiting for one of them to step forward ahead of the other,” Thompson said.

Gonzalez, a 5-11, 165-pound senior who likes to stay in the pocket, has completed 23 of 47 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns, with two interceptions.

Jasper, a 6-foot, 180-pound junior who can scramble, has completed 25 of 50 passes for 291 yards and five touchdowns, with one interception.
