Short-Handed Artists Lose to Coronado

Share

Coronado High dominated on defense and defeated Laguna Beach, 35-7, Friday in Coronado.

The Artists gained only two net yards in the first half against the Islanders defense.

Laguna Beach was playing without quarterback Ryan Schissler and tight end Travis Loidolt, both senior standouts who missed the game because of injury.

Coronado’s running game dominated Laguna Beach, gaining 297 yards in 52 attempts. The Islanders scored three times before Laguna Beach got on the scoreboard. Felipe Hernandez gained 116 yards and scored a touchdown in 21 carries and Jon Hester rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns in 10 carries for Coronado.

Throwing just enough to keep the Artists off balance, Islander quarterback Jeffrey Taufaasau completed five passes in 11 attempts for 94 yards. The Artists gained 85 yards in 43 plays.
