Fawcett Heads Down to the Farm Amid Lineup of Thrillers, Dramas

Among the big movies for the weekend are an HBO Mafia drama, a thriller from TBS and a rural drama starring Farrah Fawcett.

Bobbie Phillips returns as a genetically engineered agent in the UPN thriller “Chameleon II,” Friday at 8 p.m.

Chazz Palminteri and F. Murray Abraham star in the HBO Mafia drama “Excellent Cadavers,” Saturday at 8 p.m.

Casper Van Dien, Catherine Bell and Martin Sheen star in TBS’ latest thriller, “The Timeshifters,” Sunday at 7 p.m. Van Dien plays a tabloid reporter who discovers a mysterious man who was present at several major disasters during the past two centuries.

Lou Diamond Phillips stars in Showtime’s “In a Class of His Own,” Sunday at 8 p.m. He plays a high school custodian who must pass the general education test to keep his job.

Fawcett stars in the CBS drama “Silk Hope,” Sunday at 9 p.m., as a high-spirited woman who wants to keep the family farm after the death of her mother.

Judd Nelson has the title role in the NBC bio-pic “Mr. Rock ‘n’ Roll: The Alan Freed Story,” Sunday at 9 p.m. The drama chronicles the rise and fall of the famed deejay who introduced the world to rock ‘n’ roll in the ‘60s. Former teen heartthrobs Bobby Rydell and Fabian have cameos.

Series

Helen Baxendale reprises her role of private eye Cordelia Gray in a new episode of the thriller “An Unsuitable Job for a Woman,” tonight at 9 on KCET-TV and KVCR-TV. Annette Crosbie also stars in this two-part adaptation of the P.D. James story.

“Breaking Bread With Father Dominic,” Friday at 2:30 p.m. on KOCE-TV, offers cooking lessons from a Benedictine monk.

Sean Maher plays a rookie Philadelphia beat cop in the new Fox series “Ryan Caulfield: Year One,” Friday at 8 p.m. Michael Rispoli, Clifton Powell and Roselyn Sanchez co-star.

Los Lobos performs on “Sessions at West 54th,” late Friday at 12:30 a.m. on KCET.

Nickelodeon’s “The Amanda Show,” a new comedy-variety series with 13-year-old Amanda Bynes, debuts Saturday at 8:30 p.m., followed by “100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd,” at 9 p.m., which focuses on a bully who is transformed into a dog. The only way he can return to his human self is by helping others.

Because of technical difficulties during the telecast last Sunday, KCET-TV is repeating the first episode of the “Masterpiece Theatre” series “Aristocrats,” Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The second installment follows at 9 p.m.

“The Children Are Watching,” tonight at 10 on KCET, offers evidence of a link between parental involvement and the actions of their children.

The History Channel focuses on the ups and downs of advertising on “Sell & Spin: A History of Advertising,” Friday at 6 and 10 p.m.

TNT presents “Hollywood Salutes Jodie Foster: An American Cinematheque Tribute,” Sunday at 8 and 9:30 p.m. The two-time Academy Award winner was honored at a Beverly Hills tribute taped Saturday. Gillian Anderson, James Garner, Dylan McDermott and James Woods are among the celebrities saluting the former child actress.

The co-creator of “Seinfeld” stars in the cable special “Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Sunday at 10 p.m. on HBO.
