3 Men Hurt as Helicopter Crash-Lands at LAX
A helicopter crash-landed on a taxiway at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday, injuring the three men aboard.
The Bell Jet Ranger 206-B, which sustained heavy damage, crashed about 4:30 p.m. between terminals 4 and 5, said LAX spokeswoman Ethel Pattison.
The pilot was attempting to land on a helipad atop a parking structure, she said. It went down a few hundred yards short.
The injured men were taken to UCLA Medical Center, where they were in fair condition Thursday night, a hospital spokesman said. They were said to be in their 20s and 30s, but no other information about where they were coming from or the purpose of the flight was released.
