Fullerton’s One-Two Punch KOs Sunny Hills

Ryan Murray and Armando Lopez combined for 273 yards rushing and two touchdowns as Fullerton kept Sunny Hills winless in Freeway League play, 36-6, Friday at Fullerton High.

Jose Rangel scored Fullerton’s first touchdown on a nine-yard pass form Michael Echaves midway through the first quarter. The touchdown capped a 12-play, 70-yard drive.

Oscar Hernandez scored on a one-yard run to put Fullerton (5-2, 2-1 in league) up at halftime, 14-0.

Rangel opened the second half with an 87-yard kickoff return to give the Indians a 22-0 lead.

Sunny Hills (2-5, 0-2), which was held to 118 yards of total offense, scored with 5:37 left to play when Adam Lindholm caught a 22-yard pass from Bryson Igarta.

Fullerton’s Lopez finished with 143 yards in 18 carries and two touchdowns, and Murray added 130 in 23 carries.

Brandon Shepard ran for 109 yards in 24 carries for Sunny Hills.

The Lancers were unable to capitalize on a fumbled punt return deep in Fullerton territory late in the first quarter.

Fullerton sacked Igarta three times in the second half, holding Sunny Hills to only 26 yards rushing in the second half.

Echaves, after completing his first three passes, threw only three more, one of them an interception late in the first half.
