A 17-year-old boy has been booked on murder charges after a series of crimes that culminated when he ran over and killed an 88-year-old woman with a stolen car, police said.

They said Marcus Anthony Montgomery of Oakland went on a crime rampage Saturday that included the attempted robbery of a cab driver, the robbery and shooting of a stagehand, an assault on a motorist and the vehicle death of 88-year-old Evelyn Miller.

It started when he hailed a cab near the Fremont commuter rail station, police said. After being driven to Hayward, Montgomery tried to rob, then beat the driver with a shotgun, police said. The driver, Ghulam Nazamby, 45, was in fair condition Sunday.

Police said Montgomery then went into the Little Theater, where he accosted stagehand Michael Sweeney.

He robbed Sweeney of his wallet and car keys, then shot him when he ran, police said. Sweeney was in serious condition Sunday.

Montgomery allegedly tried the keys in several cars, gave up and instead attempted to throw Lois Moser, 69, out of her car. She suffered minor injuries.

Montgomery then threw Miller out of her car, backed up and drove over her, said police Capt. Manny Silva.

Montgomery was identified because he left his wallet in the taxi. Besides murder, he was booked on charges of attempted murder, carjacking and attempted robbery.
