VALLEY / VENTURA COUNTY SPORTS : SOUTHERN SECTION FOOTBALL ROUNDUP
St. Francis 26, Arcadia 16--Jimmy Knauf ran for 120 yards and three touchdowns as the Golden Knights turned an interception, fumble and poor center snap into three scores at Arcadia.
Leading 13-2 late in the third quarter, St. Francis got the ball on the Apaches’ 17-yard line after a center snap sailed over punter Joey Desmarais, who instead of taking a safety, decided to run the ball and was tackled 37 yards short of a first down.
Knauf ran 14 yards to the three and scored on the next play.
Arcadia cut its deficit to 19-8 when Quincy Williams culminated a 10-play, 80-yard drive with a two-yard run touchdown with 9:34 left.
St. Francis was forced to punt on the ensuing series but regained possession when Matt Sikorsky recovered Anthony Freeman’s fumbled punt at the Apaches’ eight-yard line. Knauf scored on the next play.
