Running back Jason Anderson rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns in 15 carries and Antelope Valley College won a opener for the first time since 1991 with a 24-14 victory over Santa Monica on Saturday at Lancaster.

Anderson, a former Palmdale High running back who transferred to Antelope Valley after redshirting last season at NAIA school Langston, Okla., scored on a 25-yard run late in the first half. He caught a pass on the ensuing conversion to tie the score, 14-14.

With six minutes to play, Anderson took the ball off the left side and raced 84 yards for a touchdown, becoming the first Antelope Valley player since 1997 to rush for more than 200 yards in a game.

Linebacker David Fetters, son of defensive coordinator George Fetters, recorded three sacks. Eric Prevost Jr. had nine tackles, seven in the second half.

Chaffey 49, Moorpark 37--Running back Dameon Hunter rushed for 337 yards and scored five touchdowns for Chaffey at Moorpark.

Hunter scored on runs of three, four and one yard in the first half, and had two one-yard scores in the second half.

Moorpark’s Farhaad Azimi completed 20 of 34 passes for 235 yards and touchdowns of 32 and 36 yard to Shayne Sobel. Sobel had 10 receptions for 125 yards.

Running back Aaron Kleefisch gained 43 yards in eight carries for the Raiders, including touchdown runs of two and eight yards in the fourth quarter.

Bryant Phipps started at running back for Moorpark in place of Emmanuel Evans, who strained his right knee in practice. Phipps carried eight times for 28 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown.

Raider defensive back Andy Kroneberger had two interceptions and Talalelei Ioapo blocked a field goal and a conversion.
