An on-duty sheriff’s motorcycle deputy suffered several small fractures in his back Tuesday when he collided with a car that pulled in front of him, authorities said.

Deputy Rob McGill, 42, was admitted to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo after the 7:15 a.m. crash. He was reported to be in good condition Tuesday afternoon, hospital officials said.

McGill was traveling south on Santa Rosa Road when he broadsided a car at the Upland Road intersection. The car was being driven by Juelle Kristine Soliz, 28, of Camarillo, officials said.

“He sees her stopped, and she pulls out in front of him and he was unable to stop,” said Eric Nishimoto, a sheriff’s spokesman.

When McGill’s motorcycle struck the passenger side of Soliz’s vehicle, he was thrown over the car and onto the street, Nishimoto said. A passing motorist saw the crash and used McGill’s police radio to call for help.

Soliz was not injured. Nishimoto said she will not be cited, because the crash was considered to be an accident.

At the time of the crash, McGill was driving about 40 mph.
