SPORTS WEEKEND : AROUND THE NFC / EAST : Eagles Missing Road Map

Buffalo has the third-best home record in the AFC since 1989, 61-20, and it gets Philadelphia next. Can the Bills stop giggling long enough to win?

The Eagles haven’t won on the road since 1996. That was by one point over the pre-Parcells’ Jets. That makes Philadelphia 0-16-1 on the road. The NFL record for consecutive road losses is 23, set by Houston from 1981 to 1984. It’s in the Eagles’ reach.

In the last five years, the Eagles have posted the worst overall record on the road, 9-30-1.

The Redskins have the top-ranking offense, and the 30th-ranking defense. Norv Turner’s team can be very, very good, and awful too.

Arizona quarterback Plummer has thrown seven interceptions in two games but refuses to blame a sore thumb.

“The thumb has nothing to do with the decision-making process,” he said. “There were some poor decisions. That wasn’t my thumb. That was my head.”

Showing a sense of humor after having four passes picked off last week, Plummer was asked to take a microphone check for a postgame show.

“One, two, three, four,” Plummer said, pausing, then adding, “interceptions.”

Plummer is on a pace to throw 56 of them.
