MICHIGAN STATE (31-7) vs. FLORIDA (29-7)

Share

* How they match up: Just because Michigan State was lulled to sleep by turn-back-the-clock Wisconsin in the semifinals, don’t think the Spartans can’t get revved up for life-in-the-fast-lane Florida. Michigan State can wing it in transition and defend on the wings, where Florida’s Teddy Dupay and Mike Miller took a break from what had been a spring fling by missing all 12 of their three-point shots in the semifinals. The pressing question: Can Michigan State handle the full-court mauling of Florida, something it didn’t encounter in the half-court war zones of the Big Ten?

* What to expect: Spartan point guard Mateen Cleaves can’t throw a pea in Lake Michigan, but he is strong and poised enough to fight off pesky Gators such as the 5-foot-10 Dupay. And, the Spartans have been chairmen of the boards throughout the season, which means they’re ‘bound for glory in Monday night’s final.
