Haley Leaves Santiago to Coach at Anaheim

Ben Haley, who spent the last six seasons at Santiago High, said his appointment Monday as football coach at Anaheim High is a dream come true.

Haley, a 1974 Anaheim graduate, inherits a team that has won just one of its last 29 games. He replaces Allen Carter, who resigned after going 15-45-1 in six years.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Haley said. “I know they’ve had a tough time in the last few years. But I’m going to a place where I will have a lot of control over what I have to do. And if we get the right staff together, I think we can turn it around.”

Haley had a record of 33-29-1 at Santiago, where he led the Cavaliers to two playoff appearances.
