County Connection Gives Titan Softball Team a Boost

Four Orange County products have been playing key roles this season for the Cal State Fullerton softball team that is ranked 16th in the nation.

Sophomore outfielder Yasmin Mossadeghi, who played at Edison High, leads the Titans in home runs with seven and runs batted in with 37. She is batting .364 with a .599 slugging percentage.

Monica Lucatero, a sophomore infielder who played at Mater Dei, is batting .333 with five home runs and 26 RBIs.

Senior Dara Marzolo, a catcher-infielder who played at Orange High, is batting .303 with two homers and 14 RBIs.

Sophomore pitcher Christy Robitaille, a Woodbridge High alumna, has an 8-5 record with a 1.98 earned-run average. She also has five saves.

NOTEWORTHY

Four former Orange County high school players were members of the Azusa Pacific women’s basketball team that finished with a 26-7 record, the best by the Cougars since the 1986 team finished 30-5. Azusa Pacific lost to Georgia Southwestern, 92-67, in the opening round of the NAIA Championships in Jackson, Tenn., recently. Sophomore guard Catherine Solorio (Brea Olinda High) scored 18 points and had eight rebounds in that game. She averaged 8.3 points for the season. Other members of the team are freshman Marcene Guerrero of Calvary Chapel (3.9 points), freshman Melissa Sands of Capistrano Valley Christian (1.4 points) and sophomore Alexis Graves of El Dorado High (0.9 points).

Sophomore guard Heidi Hardeman (Troy High) was the second-leading scorer for the Biola women’s basketball team. Hardeman averaged 12.1 points, shot 38.7% from the field and averaged 3.6 rebounds. Two other Orange County players were members of the team. Freshman guard Kristin Arnold (Troy High) averaged 5.6 points, and junior guard Ann-Marie Harbour (Brethren Christian High) averaged 4.9 points. The Eagles finished with an 11-19 record.

Michigan catcher David Parrish, a junior from Esperanza High, is batting .305. He leads the team in home runs with seven, runs batted in with 21 and slugging percentage with .565. The Wolverines are 9-15-1.

Sophomore third baseman Lindsay Fossatti (Foothill High) led the Fresno State softball team in hitting in March with a .394 average (37 for 94). She led the team in runs with 18.
