Canyons 18, Bakersfield 1--Steve Redfern pitched a five-hitter for the Cougars (18-12, 14-7) in a WSC Southern Division game at Bakersfield.

Pierce 7, Glendale 3--The Brahmas won a WSC Southern Division game despite being outhit, 15-5, at Stengel Field in Glendale.

Kona Sampaio hit a three-run home run in the eighth to put the Brahmas (18-12, 14-7) ahead, 7-1.

Pepperdine 11, San Francisco 1--Dane Sardinha hit two home runs for the Waves (24-17, 12-4) in a West Coast Conference victory at San Francisco.

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

Rio Mesa 4-2, Ventura 0-0--The Spartans held the Cougars to two hits in a nonleague sweep at Rio Mesa.

Chanel Tripp (7-2) pitched a no-hitter, struck out 17 and recorded her sixth shutout in the opener.

Anita Urias and Sharon Munoz each had two hits and one RBI for the Spartans.

Monique Barretto pitched a two-hitter, striking out six in her second shutout in the second game.

Chrissy Hildebrandt had two hits and an RBI for Rio Mesa (11-4-1).

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Moorpark 10-8, Hueneme 6-3--Chris Nealon hit his sixth home run for the Musketeers (11-6) in the first game of a nonleague doubleheader at Hueneme.

Robby Jaegge had a double and Justin Drummond hit a triple for Moorpark (11-6) in the second game.

Poly 7, Los Angeles 5--Jaime Perez hit a two-run home run for the Parrots in the Birmingham tournament at Poly.

Poly (13-3) also beat Westchester, 10-5.

Birmingham 9, Palisades 6--Luis Parra’s two-run double helped the Patriots win in the Birmingham tournament.

Birmingham (11-6), which beat Franklin earlier, 7-2, has won six consecutive games.

Chaminade 13-36, Morningside 0-1--The Eagles had 49 runs and 40 hits at Chaminade.

Jimmy Rapaport and Jon Higashi hit grand slams, and Erik Johnson added a two-run home run for the Eagles (11-5) in the second game.
