FIRST QUARTER: LAKERS 34, SACRAMENTO 28

Highlight Reel: After a forced three-point attempt by teammate Jason Williams, Chris Webber caught the rebound with his right hand extended at shoulder level and in one motion slammed home a dunk.

It’s Not in the Box Score: Shaquille O’Neal and Webber established themselves early. O’Neal rolled over Vlade Divac. Webber scored points from the post, perimeter and in transition.

Winning Number: 17. Rebounds grabbed by the Lakers as they outrebounded Sacramento by 10. With Ron Harper leading the way, the Lakers had that many offensive rebounds alone.

Wrong Number: 11 minutes, 59 seconds. Sacramento shooting guard Nick Anderson played the entire quarter but did not attempt his first shot until one second remained, a desperation shot from beyond halfcourt at the buzzer.

Leading Scorers: Lakers: Kobe Bryant and O’Neal 9. Kings: Webber 14.

Leading Rebounders: Lakers: Harper 5. Kings: Webber 3.

SECOND QUARTER: LAKERS 65, SACRAMENTO 55

Highlight Reel: After the Kings made a run early in the quarter to close within two points, the Lakers got back into the flow behind their defense. The key play was made when backup guard Brian Shaw rejected a shot by Jon Barry and then finished a fastbreak with a nice pass to Glen Rice for a layup.

It’s Not in the Box Score: O’Neal displayed his remarkable athleticism with a nifty basket over Divac from the right side of the lane. With his back to the rim, O’Neal spun to his right and banked in a shot while losing one of his sneakers.

Winning Number: 58.3. The Lakers’ field-goal percentage in the quarter.

Wrong Number: Seven. The number of missed field-goal attempts from the Kings’ reserves in the quarter. Predrag Stojakovic missed three. Lawrence Funderburke and Barry missed two each.

Leading Scorers: Lakers: Horry and O’Neal 8. Kings: Webber 6.

Leading Rebounders: Lakers: O’Neal 3. Kings: Stojakovic 3.

THIRD QUARTER: LAKERS 91, SACRAMENTO 79

Highlight Reel: The Lakers’ A.C. Green has done a decent job filling the hole at power forward, but the crafty veteran doesn’t have much jump left in his legs. Green’s lack of hops was exposed when the Kings’ Anderson blocked one of his wide-open layups from underneath the rim.

It’s Not in the Box Score: The temper tantrums thrown by Webber and Bryant. After being called for an offensive foul trying to post up Horry, Webber had a fit and was rewarded with a technical foul. Moments later, Bryant had his own whine time when a foul wasn’t called on a last-second drive.

Winning Number: 17. O’Neal scored that number of points in the quarter.

Wrong Number: 37.5. The field-goal percentage of the Kings in the quarter.

Leading Scorers: Lakers: O’Neal 17. Kings: Webber 8.

Leading Rebounders: Lakers: O’Neal 5. Kings: Webber, Divac, Anderson and Scot Pollard each with 2.

FOURTH QUARTER: LAKERS 117, SACRAMENTO 107

Highlight Reel: Derek Fisher has had a difficult season because of a shooting slump but he may have made the play of the game with a heads up defensive move on Webber. After catching the ball in traffic, Webber picked up his sixth foul when Fisher stepped in to take a charge in front of the basket.

It’s Not in the Box Score: With Divac on the bench, the Kings turned to Pollard to guard O’Neal. Big mistake. O’Neal positioned himself so close to the rim, Pollard looked like he was wearing the net for a headband.

Winning Number: Zero. The amount of points scored by Webber in the quarter. He played less than a minute before fouling out.

Wrong Number: 10. If the Lakers are to keep the Kings down they can’t give up double-digit points in a quarter to backup guard Tony Delk.

Leading Scorers: Lakers: O’Neal 12. Kings: Delk 10.

Leading Rebounders: Lakers: O’Neal 5. Kings: Funderburke 3.
