Stein Goes Near and Far in Winning Four Events

Natalie Stein of North Hollywood High won the 400-, 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter races in a girls’ Sunset Six tri-meet Friday at North Hollywood.

The Huskies won the meet with 76 points, followed by Grant with 65 and Hollywood with 18.

Alexis Weatherspoon of Grant won the 100 in 11.7 and the long jump with a mark of 18-8. She also won the 200 and the triple jump.

North Hollywood is 5-0 in league competition.

Birmingham 111, Granada Hills 16--Bonnie Fulford won the 100 in 12.2, the 200 in 25.1 and ran on both winning relays in a West Valley League meet at Birmingham (7-0, 5-0).

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

El Camino Real 64, Chatsworth 60--The Chancellors defaulted in the 440-yard relay by running out of their lane on the second handoff, which gave the Conquistadores (4-3) a West Valley League victory at Chatsworth.

Monroe 98, Sylmar 28--Leon Buchanan and Brandon Browner each won two events for the Vikings in a Valley Mission League meet at Sylmar.

Buchanan won the 800 and 1600, and Browner won the 110 high hurdles and the high jump for Monroe (7-0, 5-0).

Birmingham 113, Granada Hills 14--Ruben Ruiz won the 800 in 2:02.8, the 1,600 in 4:33.6 and the 3,200 in 10:03.5 for the Patriots (6-1, 4-1) in a West Valley League meet at Birmingham.

Sophomore Ramal Porter won the 400 in 48.1 and the 200 in 22.2, and John Walker won the 110 high hurdles in 14.3 and the long jump at 21-6 1/4 for Birmingham.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Highland def. Lancaster, 15-4, 15-2, 15-4--Mike Kennedy had seven kills for the Bulldogs in a Golden League victory at Highland.

Simi Valley def. Agoura, 15-7, 15-13, 15-9--Tyler Meek had eight kills for the Pioneers (11-2, 8-2) in a Marmonte League victory at Agoura.
