They Just Hate Guys Who Are All Hands

Goalkeeper Kevin Pressman made some unwanted English soccer history Sunday when he was ejected only 13 seconds into Sheffield Wednesday’s Division One game against Wolves at Wolverhampton, England.

It was Sheffield Wednesday’s opening match of the season.

Pressman raced well out of his area and dived to push the ball away with his hands after a shot by Wolves forward Temuri Ketsbaia. Pressman was sent off for a deliberate handball.

It was the fastest expulsion in English soccer, beating the record by Crewe’s Mark Smith, who was ejected after 19 seconds in 1994.

Aces high: Alastair Forsyth and Roger Chapman of Britain, playing together, each had a hole in one on the front nine during the final round of the British Masters on Sunday at Woburn, England--a feat rated by oddsmakers at least 20,000-1.

Forsyth was first. He used a wedge at the 134-yard second hole on the Duke’s Course, his first ace as a pro.

Chapman then aced the 173-yard eighth with a six-iron.

Live and learn: Brian Heimerdinger looks as if he has the perfect summer job as he runs around the Tennessee Titans’ practice fields. The son of the Titans’ new offensive coordinator thought so too, before making the move from fan to ballboy.

Heimerdinger, 14, has spent the past three weeks chasing punts and field goals, collecting blocking pads--any odd job the AFC champions needed done during training camp.

“You look at the guys on the field and go, ‘Oh, they’re having a blast. They’re not doing any work,’ ” Heimerdinger said.

Reel deal: Philadelphia Eagle Coach Andy Reid treated his team to a night off and free popcorn at the movies.

On Thursday, about two dozen players attended a sneak preview of “The Replacements” at a movie house just outside of Bethlehem, Pa. Reid made the suggestion and the team arranged the private screening through Warner Bros. in Los Angeles.

“It’s another event to get the team together, to spend some time together in a social setting,” Reid said. “The players have been working extremely hard. It’s hot out here. I just wanted them to have some fun and have it together.”

With the success the Eagles have had in recent seasons, maybe Reid was looking for some new players.
