St. Francis, Westlake and Hart on TV

* Hart, Westlake and St. Francis highs will appear on Fox Sports Net 2 football games this season.

Hart at Westlake will be televised on Sept. 21 and the St. Francis-Serra game at a site to be determined will be shown Oct. 5.

Fox Sports Net 2’s “Preseason High School Football Special” will be shown at 10 a.m. today. It features quarterbacks Kyle Matter of Hart, John Sciarra of St. Francis and Ricky Clausen of Taft, receiver James Norris of Kennedy, running back Marcus Crawford of Newbury Park, defensive lineman Kaelen Jakes of Valencia and defensive back John Walker of Birmingham.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Dennis McNulty, co-coach at La Canada High from 1995-1999, has taken over the program at St. Francis.

McNulty, 51, and Tony Haynes guided the La Canada girls’ team to Division III state titles in 1997 and 1998, and the 1998 Southern Section championship.

Shannon Goods replaced McNulty.

BASEBALL

* Coach Tom Meusborn of Chatsworth has been selected Region 8 coach of the year by the American Baseball Coaches’ Assn.

GOLF

* Roy Moon of Simi Valley is in third place at the Ping Phoenix Jr. Championship in Tempe, Ariz., trailing by five strokes heading into the final round.

Moon is at 69-71--140 on the Karsten Course at Arizona State.

Anthony Kim of Studio City is at 81-68--149, with Justin Ohye of Calabasas at 77-73--150, Jonathan Feuerhelm of Granada Hills at 75-79--154, Doug Miller of Thousand Oaks at 77-77--154 and Chris Finefrock of Thousand Oaks at 79-83--162.

Hana Kim of Encino is tied for seventh in the girls’ division at 74-74--148 and her sister, Ina, is at 74-75--149.

TENNIS

* Marissa Irvin of Harvard-Westlake High and Stanford was selected to the Rolex Collegiate All-Star team.

SOCCER

The Cal State Northridge women’s team tied Azusa Pacific, 0-0, Saturday night in its opener at Northridge.
