Ochoa’s Goal Gives Edison 1-0 Victory Over Santa Ana

Miguel Ochoa scored off an assist from Jarred Zitt in the 35th minute to give ninth-ranked Edison a 1-0 victory over host Santa Ana in nonleague boys’ soccer Monday.
Joey Balbas had five saves for the shutout. Edison is 1-0-1.
Danny Morales had eight saves for Santa Ana (0-2-1).
In other nonleague games:
No. 7 Huntington Beach 1, Long Beach Poly 0--Joel Murphy scored in the 20th minute off an assist from Brian Ellis to give host Huntington Beach (3-0) the win.
No. 8 Fountain Valley 6, Westminster 1--Ryan Lancaster scored two goals and junior Muluwa Manda had a goal and two assists for the host Barons (1-1-2), who led, 4-0, at halftime. Martin Moreno scored for Westminster (0-3-1).
San Clemente 0, Foothill 0--The host Knights (1-0-2) outshot the Tritons, 26-5, but goalkeeper Andrew Kartunien had 11 saves for San Clemente (0-0-2). Brandon Shaver made three saves for Foothill.
In the Pico Rivera El Rancho tournament:
Brea Olinda 2, Montebello 0--Senior midfield Kory Felix scored once and assisted on Chris Becher’s goal for the Wildcats (2-0). Adam Thorpe also had an assist.
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
No. 9 Marina 2, La Mirada 1--Erin Yznaga’s goal in the 66th minute proved to be the game-winner for visiting Marina. Erin Droeger also scored for the Vikings (2-0).
In the La Quinta Aztec boys’ basketball tournament:
Calvary Chapel 53, Buena Park 47--Calvary Chapel outscored Buena Park, 20-6, in the third quarter to break open a tight game. Isaiah Barney and Canaan Owens scored 10 points each for the Eagles (4-1).
In the Fullerton Darren Oliver tournament:
Fullerton 62, Estancia 47--Antwan Banks had 21 points and six assists, Virgil Bobar had 17 points and Jack Thompson scored all 15 of his points on three-pointers, making five of eight for Fullerton (4-1).
Eliasar Maldonado had 21 points to lead Estancia (0-1).
In the Ocean View Tournament of Champions:
Mater Dei 89, Ontario 77--Guard Cedric Bozeman was 16-of-16 from the free-throw line, finishing with 30 points and nine assists for the Monarchs (2-0). Ricky Porter had 14 points, Travis Gabler 12 and Harrison Schaen had seven points and 12 rebounds.
At the Magnolia girls’ water polo tournament:
Savanna takes two--Andrea Baraza had six goals and April Moreno and Sharece Mathews had three each as Savanna (2-1) beat Hacienda Heights Wilson, 19-5, for its second pool-play win of the day.
In their first game, the Rebels got four goals each from Moreno, Mathews and Megan Anderson in a 15-3 victory over Loara.
Savanna will play Whittier on Friday in the final round of pool play.
