1972--In posting the only perfect regular season in school history, the Highlanders relied on defense. Led by Mike Crosby, an all-county selection at defensive back, they had five shutouts and allowed no opponent to score more than 14 points. La Habra met its match in the Division AAA semifinals, where it fell to eventual champion Los Altos, 12-0, to finish 12-1.

1983--The Highlanders rolled through their Freeway League schedule unbeaten, including a 14-12 victory over Sunny Hills, then knocked off Irvine, La Mirada and Brea-Olinda in the Central Conference playoffs to reach their first section championship game. The opponent was Sunny Hills, which avenged the earlier loss with a 29-0 decision.

1985--La Habra defeated its Freeway League opponents by an average of 23 points behind Chuck Weatherspoon, a powerful 5-foot-8, 200-pound running back who gained 1,562 yards during the regular season and went on to star for the University of Houston. The Highlanders advanced to the Central Conference semifinals where they lost to Saddleback for the second time.
