No. 10 Sonora Advances to Final

Sonora, ranked 10th in the county, advanced to the championship game of the North Orange County boys’ basketball tournament Friday with a 59-51 victory over Downey at Sonora.

Sonora will play Valencia in the final tonight at 8 at Troy High.

Travis Rogers and Robert Abreu scored 14 points each for the Raiders, who led, 30-21, at the half.

In another semifinal:

Valencia 55, Long Beach Millikan 53--Scott Jones and Emanuel Ortega each scored 17 points for the Tigers (7-3).

In a consolation game:

Sunny Hills 65, Santa Fe Springs St. Paul 63 (OT)--Tony Gonzalez had 21 points and 11 rebounds and Clay Carmody had 14 points and seven blocks for Sunny Hills (7-2).

In the El Dorado Gary Raya Coed Classic:

Aliso Niguel 43, Pomona Diamond Ranch 35--Ricky Ebel had seven points and five blocked shots for Aliso Niguel (5-1), which plays El Dorado in today’s championship game.

In the Glendora tournament:

Pacifica 60, Duarte 37--Kelly Gurnea scored 25 points, including three three-pointers, for Pacifica (3-4) in the consolation semifinal.

In the Murrieta Valley tournament:

Marina 83, Yucaipa 49--Chris De Luca had 24 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots and Beau Brown scored 16 points for the Vikings (4-5), who play Temecula Chaparral in the consolation final today at 1:30 p.m.

In the Vista Tri-City Christian tournament:

St. Margaret’s 70, Borrego Springs 35--Kevin Krouse scored 21 points and Abe Marouf had 11 for the Tartans (5-4), who play Tri-City Christian in today’s final.

In nonleague games:

No. 2 Santa Margarita 65, Calvary Chapel 34--Lenny Collins scored 21 points, including three three-pointers, for visiting Santa Margarita, which led, 38-14, at the half.

Trabuco Hills 79, Northwood 68--James Webster scored 11 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter as Trabuco Hills (5-3) outscored Northwood (8-1), 27-16.

Tustin 55, Buena Park 49--Tustin trailed by eight with three minutes remaining when Anthony Lares made two three-pointers to bring the Tillers within two. Tustin (2-5) took the lead with a minute remaining and Chris Chester iced the victory with two free throws in the final 20 seconds.

No. 6 Woodbridge 92, University 79--Tashaan Forehan-Kelly led Woodbridge with 23 points and Danny Lambert and Patrick Haddan each scored 14.

Jason Garey had 24 points for University.
