SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Anaheim police Wednesday asked for the public’s help in locating two suspects in the killing of a liquor-store owner during a robbery early Friday.

Investigators described the men wanted in connection with the death of Haeng “Hank” Shin Kim, 57, of Huntington Beach at his Lucky 7 Market as “brutal and vicious.”

Police released a store surveillance videotape showing two men scouting the aisles for customers before robbing the store. The part of the tape depicting the killing was not released out of concern for the victim’s family.

“Some of the most seasoned officers were very troubled by the brutality” of the killing, Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez said. The two men killed Kim “execution-style,” the officer said, adding: “They are dangerous and brutal, and we want them off the street now.”

Police described one of the two men as 17 or 18 years old, 160 pounds and about 6 feet tall. The other was described as in his early 20s, a little taller than 6 feet and weighing about 160 pounds. Both men wore hoods and dark clothing during the robbery.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Anaheim Police Department at (714) 765-1900.
