No. 5 Woodbridge 1, Rosary 1 (Woodbridge advanced on penalty kicks, 3-1)--Christene Johnson converted the winning penalty kick as the Warriors advanced to the quarterfinals to play Claremont. Earlier, Woodbridge beat El Dorado, 3-0, as Danielle Shank had a goal and an assist and Veronica Martinez and Johnson scored.

In first-round games:

Marina 0, Canyon 0 (Marina advances on penalty kicks, 5-4)--Erin Droeger, Lindsay Megill, Heather Kindschi, Ashley O’Brien and Amanda Gonzalez scored in the shootout for the Vikings, who lost to Claremont, 3-0, in the second round.

No. 2 Capistrano Valley 3, Newport Harbor 1--Ashley Casas and Angela Gonzalez scored second-half goals for Capistrano Valley (6-1). Coco D’Angelo scored in the first half for the Cougars, who play Redlands at 9:30 a.m. today in the second round.

No. 6 Santa Margarita 1, Dana Hills 0--Katie Frattone scored a first-half goal on an assist from Shannon Munoz for the Eagles (7-1-1).

West Hills Chaminade 1, Edison 1 (Chaminade advances on penalty kicks, 4-3)--Leslie Shannon scored on an assist from Erin Novak for the Chargers (7-1-3), ranked 10th in Orange County.

In the San Gorgonio tournament:

Sunny Hills 1, Saugus 1 (Sunny Hills advanced on penalty kicks, 5-4)--The county’s ninth-ranked team defeated Saugus when Christina Kim scored on the final try. The Lancers (11-0) also defeated Corona, 3-0, to advance to today’s quarterfinal against Ontario Chaffey.

In the Whittier Pioneer tournament:

Sonora 2, Long Beach Poly 1--Amber Plumlee scored on a direct kick in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and goalkeeper Marcela Leyva made 13 saves for Sonora (4-5-3).Plumlee scored three goals as the Raiders beat Montebello, 4-0, earlier.

La Habra 3, Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe 1--Natalie Roth, Liz Malm and Vanessa Barajas each scored a goal for La Habra (10-1) in a pool-play win. Earlier, Roth scored twice to lead La Habra past Whittier Christian, 4-0.
