They Didn’t Need a Whistle-Blower

How often has a high school basketball team played a game without committing a foul?

Camarillo High pulled off the feat Wednesday night in a 66-51 victory over Littlerock in the Hart tournament. There were only six fouls called in the game by officials Steve Parisen and Levon Zakarian.

“That will never happen again as long as I live,” Camarillo Coach Mike Prewitt said. “Nobody could believe it. The parents couldn’t believe it.”

Despite playing man defense and pressuring full court, the Scorpions made it through 32 minutes with no fouls.

“That was the kind of game you wait for your whole referee career,” said Parisen, who has been officiating 13 years. “That game was as clean as can be.”

Added Prewitt: “Nobody will ever beat that record in our lifetime.”
