SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Maybe this was the breakthrough for which Coach Rob Bloom of North Hollywood High was waiting.

Bloom was waiting patiently for guard David Danipour to snap out of his season-long shooting slump.

It might have finally happened in North Hollywood’s 65-53 victory over Camarillo on Friday night in a semifinal of the Hart Holiday Classic at Hart High.

Danipour came through with a season-high 19 points, including 10 of 11 free throws, as the Huskies (8-4) pulled away for a surprisingly easy victory.

“He’s capable of that if you look at his shooting stroke,” Bloom said. “His shooting stroke is as good as anybody’s. Maybe this was his breakthrough game.”

It might have been a breakthrough for the Huskies as well. Camarillo (9-5) has been playing well and was expected to reach the tournament final.

North Hollywood’s Kenny Hauser, who finished with 12 points and nine rebounds, said the Huskies don’t have a lot of depth or flashy players.

“We know what to do out there,” Hauser said. “We have role players that play key positions and we’re really starting to blossom.”

Crespi 74, Daniel Murphy 60--Andrew Moore had 31 points and 10 rebounds to carry Crespi (9-2) into the tournament final at 8 tonight against North Hollywood.
