X-Rays Show Beck’s Wrist Not Broken

Share

Tests on Cal State Fullerton outfielder Chris Beck’s injured left wrist Monday showed no fracture, according to Titan trainer Chris Mumaw.

Beck had X-rays after returning from the Titans’ three-game series at Stanford. The sprained wrist caused Beck to leave the series’ second game Saturday after one at-bat. He did not play Sunday.

Beck was the Titans’ leading hitter last season with a .408 average.

The Titans fell from second to fifth in this week’s Baseball America poll after being swept by the top-ranked Cardinal. Alabama moved up to second, followed by UCLA and Florida State. USC is ranked sixth.

Baylor, which plays at Fullerton in a three-game series beginning Friday night, is ranked 10th.

* Los Alamitos High will induct former pitching standout Greg Harris--the only player to pitch right- and left-handed in a major league game--into its baseball hall of fame at 10 a.m. Feb. 19 on the school’s baseball field.

During his 15-year big-league career, Harris pitched with the Expos, Padres, Rangers, Phillies and Red Sox. The glove from the game in which he pitched right- and left-handed rests in the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Harris, a 1974 graduate of Los Alamitos, led the Griffins to a league championship. He also helped Long Beach City College win a state junior college title in 1976.
