* About Calgary: Jeff Shantz, the Flames’ top center, is out after suffering a mild concussion Saturday when Phoenix’s Travis Green lost his footing and clubbed Shantz in the head--something Calgary Coach Brian Sutter was still fuming about on Sunday. The Flames are 0-8-1 in their last eight games. Val Bure has 28 goals and 55 points to lead Calgary.

FRIDAY VS. SAN JOSE

* Key: The Ducks need to get Teemu Selanne as much ice time as possible. He has 32 goals and 66 points in 35 games against the Sharks.

* Season series: The Ducks have a 2-1 edge.

* About San Jose: Shark defenseman Jeff Norton was awaiting possible disciplinary action by league officials after Sunday’s game against New Jersey. Norton received a match penalty for hitting the Devil’s Claude Lemieux in the back of the head with a stick. Goalie Steve Shields is 5-10-2 since the Sharks traded Mike Vernon to Florida on Dec. 30. Left wing Alexander Korolyuk missed the New Jersey game after aggravating a back injury.

MONDAY VS. ST. LOUIS

* Key: A full 60 minutes would help for the Ducks, who blew a 3-1 lead against the Blues in a 6-3 loss Saturday.

* Season series: The team’s have split two games.

* About St. Louis: Center Pierre Turgeon is out with a thumb injury. Pavol Demitra had a hat trick in the 6-3 victory over the Ducks. Defenseman Al MacInnis was sidelined with back spasms.
