Brooke Reves scored 24 points and Suzi Raymant had 20 as Kansas ended No. 10 Iowa State’s home win streak at 26 games with a 79-71 Big 12 victory Wednesday night at Ames, Iowa.
Kansas (18-6, 9-3) forced 27 turnovers with a trapping, physical defense that took Iowa State (18-5, 9-3) out of its game. The Jayhawks built a 17-point lead, then held off a late flurry by the Cyclones, whose 55% shooting wasn’t enough to offset their ballhandling problems.
Iowa State lost at home for the first time since March 16, 1998, when it was beaten by Rutgers, 62-61, in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
The Cyclones had not lost a regular-season game at home since a 76-52 setback to Nebraska on Jan. 30, 1997.
No. 5 Notre Dame 70, Villanova 52--Ruth Riley had 14 points to lead four players in double figures and the Irish (22-2, 13-0) had runs of 8-0 and 9-2 early in the second half en route to a Big East victory over the Wildcats (14-9, 7-5) at Villanova, Pa.
No. 12 Texas Tech 66, Nebraska 62--Aleah Johnson scored 18 points in leading the Red Raiders (20-3, 9-3) to a Big 12 victory over the Cornhuskers at Lubbock, Texas.
Texas 77, No. 18 Oklahoma 70--Joruth Woods scored 15 points and three others were in double figures as the Longhorns (17-8, 8-4) beat the Sooners (20-4, 10-2) in a Big 12 game at Norman, Okla.
No. 19 Boston College 72, Georgetown 49--Cal Bouchard made six of eight three-pointers and finished with 25 points as the Eagles (20-6, 9-3) earned consecutive 20-win seasons with a Big East victory over the Hoyas (13-10, 6-6) at Boston.
