Duncan Gets Good News

San Antonio Spur forward Tim Duncan’s strained abdominal muscle is not torn, meaning he might be able to maintain his feat of never missing an NBA game.

Duncan, listed as day-to-day, will travel with the Spurs for a three-game trip and there is a chance he will play Thursday night at Charlotte, N.C.

Duncan has played in 185 consecutive regular-season games during his three years in the league.

Guard Antonio Daniels sprained his left wrist Monday and also is day-to-day.

Golden State Warrior forward Antawn Jamison is expected to be sidelined for the season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in Los Angeles.

Jamison, who leads the Warriors in scoring (19.6) and is second in rebounding (8.3), sprained his left knee on Feb. 4 but played three more games before aggravating the injury Feb. 9 against Miami.

Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning had his broken nose reset, and he’ll play tonight without a mask at New Jersey.

Mourning was elbowed by Michael Curry in Monday’s loss at Detroit.

Indiana Pacer guard Reggie Miller was fined $5,000 by the NBA for directing obscene language at New York fans during Saturday’s game against the Knicks.

The Knicks, reacting to a boycott of South Carolina by the NAACP over the flying of the Confederate flag atop the Statehouse dome, said it will pull its playoff training camp out of Charleston this season.

The Knicks have conducted their playoff training camp in Charleston since 1991.

Liberty Media agreed in Denver to buy Ascent Entertainment for $460 million in a deal that includes the Denver Nuggets, hockey’s Colorado Avalanche and the Pepsi Center, but plans to turn around and sell it all after failing to acquire Ascent’s pay-per-view programming services recently.

Liberty didn’t want to get into the sports business but could only get the programming services by buying the teams as well, said John Reidy, an analyst with Salomon, Smith, Barney in New York.
