Teacher Honored as Outstanding Alumna
Helena Geier Keefe of Santa Paula was recognized as an outstanding alumna at Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles. Keefe, a 1933 graduate in elementary education, was honored as the Outstanding Alumna for Community Service. She is a retired special education teacher who worked for more than 40 years for the Santa Paula school district.
Maritime Museum Receives 2 Grants
The Ventura County Maritime Museum received two major grants for general operating support. The Santa Barbara-based Wood-Claeyssens Foundation awarded the museum $7,500. The New York-based Blanche and George Jones Fund awarded $5,000.
Port Hueneme Library Gets $2,000 Donation
The Ray D. Prueter Library in Port Hueneme received a $2,000 donation from the Surfside Village Assn. The money will be used for general financial support.
