The Moorpark College men’s basketball team has played in four tournament finals this season, but the Raiders had their 10-game winning streak broken last week by tournament host San Jose City, 69-60, in the final.

The Raiders (14-4) have been led by sophomore guard Dan Galvononi, an all-tournament selection at San Jose, who is averaging 18.6 points. He averaged 21.6 points, seven rebounds, 6.7 assists and 3.7 steals in three games at San Jose.

O.J. Thomas is averaging 8.5 assists and fewer than one turnover for Moorpark, which hosts Twentynine Palms at 7 p.m. Friday. The Raiders open league play on Jan. 12 at Santa Monica.

Western State Conference basketball play begins this week for men and women.

Glendale hosts Hancock at 7 p.m. today to open men’s play. Valley is at Canyons at 7 p.m. Wednesday in another men’s opener.

Women’s conference games begin Wednesday. At 5:30 p.m., Canyons hosts Valley, while at 7 p.m. Cuesta is at Ventura, Oxnard is at Moorpark, Pierce is at Hancock and Santa Barbara is at Glendale.

In Foothill Conference openers, the Antelope Valley women host Desert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the Marauder men defeated Cerra Costa, 76-67, on Monday.
